Ana Ionova is an independent journalist based in Brazil. She works across text, audio, photo and video.

Ana is currently a stringer for The New York Times and a freelance contributor to The Guardian, The Los Angeles Times, BBC's World Service and others. Before arriving in Latin America in 2019, she spent nearly four years as a correspondent at Reuters in London. Ana has also reported from Argentina, the United States, Canada, the Balkans and the Middle East. Her work has received support from the International Women’s Media Foundation and it has been recognized by the Society of Environmental Journalists. Ana is a graduate of the Columbia Journalism School in New York City and the Toronto Metropolitan University.
